Birth Support

I provide in person labor and delivery support to families in the Piedmont Triad area. Whether you choose to birth in your home, at a birth center or in the hospital.


Birth doula services include:

  • One 30 minute consult
  • Two, 1 hour long prenatal visits
  • An on call period from week 36 until you give birth
  • One, 1 hour long postpartum visit

 

In the 30 minute consult we will go over your hopes for your birth and how I can help support those goals. If we feel it's a good fit we will sign the contract and move forward! At the prenatal visit we will finalize your birth plan and practice some pain techniques and labor positions. Then at 36 weeks I will go on call and when you go into labor I will come to you. I will stay with you for the duration of your labor and birth. After birth we will schedule your one hour postpartum visit and I will come and check in on you and baby. I will make sure you're feeling well and answer any final questions you may have for me.

Postpartum Support

I provide in-home postpartum support to families in the Winston-Salem area for the first 12 weeks (or more) after your baby is born. This includes days AND nights!


Postpartum doula services include:

 

  • One prenatal visit to create a plan for support
  • Education + evidence-based information on recovery, newborn care, and feeding
  • 10 hour overnight shifts to let you get the rest you need
  • Light household chores like dishes & laundry 
  • Care for baby while you take time to nap and shower
  • Connection to local and online resources as needed



Postpartum doula support can last anywhere from a few visits to more than 3 months of support. We'll develop a customized plan for you!




Placenta Encapsulation

I provide in-home placenta encapsulation for mamas who are recently postpartum.


Placenta encapsulation includes

 

  • One visit to prepare the placenta for dehydration.
  • I will be in PPE, I will also sterilize the kitchen and the prep spaces.
  • Prep includes cleaning, steaming and cutting.
  • The the placenta will need to dehydrate for the rest of the day and night.
  • I will come back the next day to put the placenta into capsules.
  • Then we will go over use and storage and I will answer any other placenta questions you may have.


Your placenta will never leave your house! I will bring all the equipment needed. I do require your home have running water, a working stovetop and running power. I will not expose your placenta to any other germs. There is no chance of you receiving anyone else's placenta. The only placentas I will not process are the ones sent to pathology in the hospital or ones that have been left at room temperature for long periods of time.

 Baby equipment is expensive and rentals ease the financial burden

Whether that is education, creating a birth plan, or having a plan to manage postpartum mental health, a doula’s job is to make the transition to parenthood feel easier. This includes after you give birth, when a doula will offer physical and emotional support, helping you to make decisions and feel prepared along the way.
